Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup finely diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

  • 1/3 cup crushed red hots or cinnamon candy


Instructions

  • Cream butter and both sugars until fluffy.

  • Add egg and vanilla; mix well.

  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

  • Gradually add dry mix to the wet ingredients.

  • Fold in diced apples.

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes.

  • Scoop dough balls onto parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Sprinkle crushed candies on top of each cookie.

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.

  • Let cool 5 minutes on tray before transferring to rack.

  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  • Chill dough for best shape and flavor.
