Description

Chai Latte is a creamy, spiced beverage that blends traditional Indian masala chai with Western café culture. With its rich aroma and comforting warmth, it’s a flavorful drink enjoyed around the world.

Ingredients

Scale

Chai Latte

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp loose black tea leaves (or 2 black tea bags)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (broken into pieces)
  • 45 cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp honey (or sweetener of choice)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Pour in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer for 2 more minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into mugs, sweeten with honey or preferred sweetener, and serve hot.

Notes

For a vegan version, use oat, almond, or coconut milk. Adjust the spices to your taste or add a shot of espresso for a dirty chai latte.
