Description
Homemade chicken salt is a bold, savory seasoning made with simple pantry spices like turmeric, garlic, and paprika. Use it to instantly elevate fries, vegetables, popcorn, and more.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons sweet paprika
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon celery seed (ground)
1/2 teaspoon white sugar (optional)
1/4 teaspoon MSG or nutritional yeast (optional)
Instructions
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to blend evenly.
2. Toast lightly in a dry skillet over low heat for 1–2 minutes to intensify aroma (optional).
3. Let cool completely, then transfer to a spice jar or airtight container.
4. Use as seasoning for fries, roasted vegetables, eggs, popcorn, or soups.
5. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
Notes
For a smoky variation, swap sweet paprika for smoked paprika.
Nutritional yeast gives a cheesy umami taste if you’re avoiding MSG.
