Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs can use regular breadcrumbs if out of panko
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon can add nutmeg or pumpkin spice for variations
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel (optional) and cut apples into fry-like sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up coating stations: add flour to one bowl, whisk egg and milk together in another, and mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon in the last bowl.
Cooking
  1. Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray and place in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  3. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them back into the air fryer for a couple of minutes.
