  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for less grease
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, minced Can substitute with ground ginger
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce For flavor; low-sodium if preferred
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Enhances flavor
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar Optional sweetness
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped For garnish and flavor
  • 1 head butter lettuce For wrapping; has a better hold than iceberg

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until well-cooked.
  2. Drain excess fat and stir in minced garlic, ginger, and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey (if using) to the mixture.
  4. Stir until beef is glossy and fragrant.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in chopped green onions.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the beef mixture into individual butter lettuce cups.
  2. Top with additional green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add sriracha or chili garlic sauce. You can make the filling ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to three days. Assemble just before serving to keep the lettuce fresh.
