Instructions
In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 3-4 minutes.
Pour in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer for 2 more minutes.
Strain the mixture into mugs, sweeten with honey or preferred sweetener, and serve hot.
Notes
For a vegan version, use oat, almond, or coconut milk. Adjust the spices to your taste or add a shot of espresso for a dirty chai latte.
