Ingredients
  

Chai Latte

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or plant-based
  • 1 1/2 tbsp loose black tea leaves or 2 black tea bags
  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken into pieces
  • 4-5 cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 inch fresh ginger sliced
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp honey or sweetener of choice

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer for 2 more minutes.
  • Strain the mixture into mugs, sweeten with honey or preferred sweetener, and serve hot.

Notes

For a vegan version, use oat, almond, or coconut milk. Adjust the spices to your taste or add a shot of espresso for a dirty chai latte.
