  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Can adjust based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Can reduce for less sweetness.
For the topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar For a richer flavor, can swap for granulated sugar.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Can use a dairy-free alternative if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and a bit of granulated sugar. Spread them into a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.
Baking
  1. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples evenly.
  2. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  3. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until warmed through. This dish can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
