Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake) Follow package instructions or your own recipe.
For the Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream For whipping.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cherries
  • 2 cups canned or fresh cherries (pitted, with juice or syrup)
  • 1/4 cup cherry juice From the canned cherries or fresh.
For the Pudding Layer
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding Store-bought or homemade.
For Garnish
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate shavings Or grated chocolate.
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder Optional for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bake your chocolate cake according to the package instructions or your own recipe. Allow it to cool completely.
Whipping Cream
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form.
Preparing Cherries
  1. Wash and pit fresh cherries, reserving some juice, or drain canned cherries keeping the syrup.
Assembling the Trifle
  1. In a trifle dish or individual cups, layer chocolate cake pieces, vanilla pudding, cherries with juice, and whipped cream. Repeat layers until the dish is full, ending with whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings on top.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate the trifle for at least two hours or overnight.

Notes

For intense chocolate flavor, add cocoa powder to the whipped cream. Use store-bought cake and pudding for convenience. A splash of cherry liqueur can add a festive touch.
