Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For gluten-free, use a 1-to-1 gluten-free flour blend that contains xanthan gum.
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or solid coconut oil) For dairy-free version, use coconut oil or vegan butter.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Sub with brown sugar for deeper flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the flour and baking powder until a dough forms.
  3. Let the dough cool slightly, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Use a piping bag to pipe small bites of dough onto a piece of parchment paper.
  6. Lightly spray the churro bites with cooking spray.
Cooking
  1. Place the bites in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Immediately toss the churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture after removing them from the air fryer.
  3. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, pipe small mounds about 1 inch across. If your air fryer runs hot, check at 7 minutes. Work in batches to avoid crowding the basket. To refresh crispness after storage, air fry at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
