  • 1 lb ground beef Can be substituted with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup ketchup Additional 1/4 cup for glaze.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk Key for moisture.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (for glaze)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, ketchup, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and milk until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ketchup. Spread this glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider stirring in some chopped herbs or spices like parsley or Italian seasoning. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to four days or frozen for three months.
