  • 1 cup Vinegar (white or apple cider) Apple cider vinegar adds a slight sweetness.
  • several drops Food coloring (various colors) Any food coloring can be used. Liquid gel food coloring gives bolder colors.
  • 1 container Container or tray Use different containers to see how it affects the reaction.

Preparation
  1. In a container or tray, add a few tablespoons of baking soda.
  2. In separate cups, mix vinegar with different food coloring.
  3. Pour the colored vinegar over the baking soda and watch the fizz and colors react.
  4. Experiment with different combinations and amounts for even more fun!

Notes

This activity involves a chemical reaction, so it's best enjoyed immediately. Store leftover colored vinegar in a sealed container for a few days, and label it clearly. Keep towels handy for cleanup if done indoors.
