Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the breakfast sausage in a skillet until crumbly and browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Mix in the shredded cheese, and any optional veggies or bread if using.
- Layer the cooked sausage in a greased casserole dish and pour the egg mixture over it.
- Sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until set and golden.
- Check the center for doneness; it should not be runny.
Notes
This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge overnight before baking. It also freezes well for quick meals later. Enjoy it warm or cold as leftovers!
