  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • to taste food coloring (red, blue, yellow, green, purple) Feel free to swap out food coloring for your favorite shades or try natural colorants.
  • optional fine glitter

Method

Preparation
  1. Spread the granulated sugar evenly across your shallow dish.
  2. Using a spoon, dropper, or squeeze bottle, place small dots of food coloring randomly over the sugar.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the warm water and baking soda until it’s well combined.
  4. Carefully drizzle or pour the vinegar over the colored sugar to watch the colors move and dance.

Notes

Best served fresh, but any leftover sugar mix can be stored in an airtight container; however, the excitement might not be as lively the next day. For an extra sparkle, sprinkle fine glitter on top before serving. You can also try adding flavored extracts or edible sprinkles for variations.
