Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion, seasoning with salt and pepper. Drain any excess fat.
Layering
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then half of the cooked ground beef mixture.
- Spread one can of cream of mushroom soup over the beef.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and the second can of cream of mushroom soup.
- Top with shredded cheese.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
Best served with a fresh salad or buttery corn on the side. Can also be enjoyed with hot sauce or sour cream on top.
