Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
Cheese Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk Gradually whisked in
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Melted into the sauce
Topping
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For a crunchy topping
Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: paprika for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, bringing to a simmer until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix until well coated.
  7. Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, sprinkle with paprika if desired, and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For a lighter option, use whole wheat macaroni or different cheeses.
