Pasta and Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 pound spaghetti You can substitute with gluten-free pasta.
  • 1 pound Italian sausage Feel free to use ground turkey as a substitute.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Garnish
  • Fresh basil For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, then drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir the marinara sauce into the skillet with the sausage and mix until combined.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti with ricotta cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti mixture, followed by half of the sausage and marinara mixture, then half of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  2. Top with the remaining spaghetti mixture, followed by the rest of the cheeses on top.
  3. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  4. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Let cool slightly, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve this dish alongside a fresh garden salad, garlic bread, or roasted veggies. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a nice kick.
