Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, then drain any excess fat.
- Stir the marinara sauce into the skillet with the sausage and mix until combined.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti with ricotta cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Layering and Baking
- In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti mixture, followed by half of the sausage and marinara mixture, then half of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- Top with the remaining spaghetti mixture, followed by the rest of the cheeses on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool slightly, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.
Notes
Serve this dish alongside a fresh garden salad, garlic bread, or roasted veggies. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a nice kick.
