Ingredients
  

For the dough
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 pinch Salt
For the filling
  • 1 lb Ground meat (chicken, pork, or beef) or vegetables For a vegetarian option, use vegetables or tofu.
  • 1 medium Chopped onions
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 inch Ginger Minced.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro Chopped.
  • 1 teaspoon Spices (like cumin and chili powder) Adjust depending on your preference.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce or sesame oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until you have a smooth dough.
  2. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Make the filling
  1. In another bowl, mix your choice of ground meat or veggies with chopped onions, garlic, ginger, cilantro, and your chosen spices.
  2. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Assembling the momos
  1. On a floured surface, roll the dough into small balls and then flatten each ball into a thin circle.
  2. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle.
  3. Pinch the edges to seal, making pleats as you go for a traditional look.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the momos in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper.
  2. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is no longer sticky.

Notes

Serve momos hot! Pair with soy sauce or spicy dipping sauce. For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for future use. Reheat by steaming or microwaving until warm.
