Ingredients

For the Pizza Puff
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed) Ensure it's fully thawed before use
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded Can substitute with provolone or a mix of Italian cheeses
  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce Adjust the amount based on preference
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices Other toppings can be used
  • 1 egg, beaten Used for sealing the edges
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning For flavor enhancement
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for frying Optional, if frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking, or heat oil in a deep pan if frying.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares or rectangles.
  3. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one half of each pastry square, leaving a small border.
  4. Add mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices (or your favorite toppings).
  5. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder for extra flavor.
  6. Brush the edges with beaten egg and fold the pastry over to seal it. Use a fork to press the edges.
Cooking
  1. For frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry each pizza puff for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  2. For baking: Place the puffs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  3. Let cool for a few minutes before serving with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For vegetarian versions, substitute pepperoni with vegetables like mushrooms or spinach, and use vegan cheese. Ensure to seal the edges tightly to prevent leaks during cooking.
