Ingredients

For the Donuts
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree not pie filling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
For the Orange Glaze
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp orange juice fresh squeezed
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • orange food coloring optional, for festive look

Equipment

  • Donut Pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Whisk pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, sugars, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe batter into donut molds, filling each about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 12–14 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before glazing.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, zest, and food coloring until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
  8. Dip cooled donuts into glaze and place on wire rack to set.

Notes

Use canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. A piping bag makes filling easier. Adjust glaze with more juice (thinner) or sugar (thicker). Add nutmeg or ginger for extra warmth. Kids love adding sprinkles for Halloween fun!
