Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries Feel free to swap for favorite fruit.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk For richer flavor, use whole milk or half-and-half.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter or cooking spray for greasing

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Place the cubed French bread in the baking dish and sprinkle the blueberries on top.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries, making sure to soak the bread well.
  5. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using whole milk or even half-and-half instead of regular milk. You can prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate it overnight. Don’t skip the soaking step for fluffy texture.
