Preparation
- Stir the yeast into the lukewarm milk, water, and honey. Let it rest until it becomes foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Add the flour, salt, and butter. Knead this mixture until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Allow your dough to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, which usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
- After rising, divide the dough into 10 pieces and shape them into balls. Feel free to fill them with sweet or savory fillings if you wish.
- Let the balls rest for another 30 to 40 minutes until they puff up nicely.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F). Fry the buns in small batches until they turn a lovely golden color.
- Drain them on paper towels and serve plain, sugar-dusted, or filled, depending on your mood.
Notes
To store leftovers, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze for longer storage. Serve with jam or honey for added flavor.
