World's Best Lasagna

Ingredients
  

Pasta and Meat
  • 12 oz Lasagna noodles Use regular or gluten-free noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef or Italian sausage Feel free to use ground turkey for a lighter option
  • 3 cups Homemade Bolognese sauce A rich and hearty sauce adds the best flavor
Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese For creaminess and texture
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded Extra gooeyness on top
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated Adds a salty depth of flavor
  • 1 Eggs To bind the ricotta mixture
Vegetables and Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil For sautéing
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced For flavor
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped Adds sweetness and texture
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning For seasoning the ricotta mixture
  • 1 tsp Salt To taste
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper To taste
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil, chopped (optional) For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef or sausage and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in Bolognese sauce and simmer for about 20 minutes.
Assembly
  1. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a baking dish, spread a layer of Bolognese sauce, followed by noodles, then ricotta mixture, and a layer of mozzarella.
  3. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella on top.
Baking
  1. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  4. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can also freeze in slices for up to three months and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
